Conventional ceramics

Conventional technical ceramics are our second major focus of research. The clarification and evaluation of critical parameters affecting the performance of high-performance ceramic materials is of major interest to a broad sector of industrial applications, with an according technical and economic relevance.

The primary research interest is the identification and correlation of cricital factors encountered in structural ceramics (Al2O3, ZrO2, Si3N4), including the composition of starting and final materials, processing parameters during shaping and consolidation, as well as modes of operation, and, subsequently, their effects on mechanical properties and wear.

Research areas:

Processing of conventional technical ceramics

Mechanical and compositional characterization of structural ceramics
